Spectrum of Care Workshop
A practical roadmap to introduce and/or expand spectrum of care within clinical practice.
Areas of Focus: Access to Care, Affordability, Underserved, Spectrum of Care, Communication, Emergency Care / Triage, Ethics, Practice Management, Wellness / Self-care
This workshop will provide a practical framework for interested veterinary professionals to introduce and expand access to veterinary care within their practices. Small group discussions and case based learning will focus on practical skills related to: sustainable financial models of care, understanding and working across differences with your clients, effective communication skills needed when working in underserved communities, and strategies to ensure practitioners can concurrently focus on their own wellbeing and mental health.
Attendees will emerge from the workshop with a clear roadmap related to spectrum of care within their own practices.
The workshop is part of a research study being undertaken by the workshop coordinators and attendees will be invited to consent to participation in the research study. Consenting to research study participation is not mandatory for participation in the workshop. Details of the research study will be provided at the beginning of the workshop.
Workshop Objectives:
After attending this workshop participants will be able to:
- Expand their “toolbox” of diagnostic and treatment options to encompass a broader spectrum of evidence-based courses of action.
- Confidently employ communication strategies which enable shared-decision making to identify and agree on an approach that prioritizes patient comfort and quality of life.
- Monitor and reflect on the evolution of the changes to their practices to evaluate measures of success and increase their confidence in adopting and expanding a spectrum of care approach
